Common Questions
Net zero at home, explained
What is Net Zero?
Net zero means balancing the amount of greenhouse gases produced with an equivalent amount removed from the atmosphere. For homes, this involves reducing energy consumption and switching to clean, renewable energy sources.
How do Solar PV and Heat Pumps help reach net zero?
Solar PV systems generate clean electricity from sunlight, while heat pumps provide efficient heating by extracting energy from the air or ground. Together, they can dramatically reduce your home's carbon footprint and energy costs.
How efficient are air source heat pumps?
Air source heat pumps operate with a SCOP between 2.5 and 4 and can deliver around three times more energy than they consume. They are particularly effective in well-insulated homes and are the best replacement for oil, LPG or direct electric heating.
How much can clean energy reduce my home's carbon emissions?
Switching to clean energy solutions such as solar PV and heat pumps can reduce home carbon emissions by around 65 to 70 percent, while also helping households save on their energy bills, particularly in well-insulated homes.
